Rasulullah ﷺ said:
إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُحِبُّ الْعَبْدَ التَّقِيَّ الْغَنِيَّ الْخَفِيَّ
Verily, Allah loves a pious servant who is rich and concealed.
(HR Muslim number 2965)
What does the hadith mean that Allah loves the rich and the hidden?!
1) Ustadz Abdullah Sidiq I
Waalaikumussalam warahmatullahi wabarakatuh
Allah loves the rich, meaning people who are rich in souls
- Allah loves hidden people, meaning people who focus on worship and self-improvement, which must be hidden.
- He does not seek popularity, fame, or slander.
- But if this is not the case, then socialising is preferable.
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُحِبُّ الْعَبْدَ التَّقِيَّ الْغَنِيَّ الْخَفِيَّ
Verily, Allah loves a pious servant who is rich and concealed.

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
لَيْسَ الْغِنَى عَنْ كَثْرَةِ الْعَرَضِ وَلَكِنَّ الْغِنَى غِنَى النَّفْسِ
Wealth is not the abundance of material possessions, but the real wealth is the richness of the soul.
(HR Muslim number 1051)
The Prophet ﷺ said:

The Prophet said:
(Verily Allah loves a servant who is pious, rich, and hidden).
What is meant by ‘rich’ here is rich in soul. This is the rich man who is loved, as the Prophet said in another hadith:
- (But he means the one who is rich in soul).
- Al-Qadhi suggests that it means rich in wealth.
As for the words of the Prophet:
Alkhafiy
(one who is hidden)
- With kha‘ Mu’ jamah, this is what is stated in the printed books and what is known in various narrations. Al-Qadhi mentioned that some Muslim narrators narrated it as Muhmalah, alhafiy.
- The meaning of al-Khafiyy is one who focuses on worship and is preoccupied with his personal affairs.
- The meaning of al-Hafiyy is one who always keeps in touch with his relatives and is gentle with them and others, such as the weak.
The correct meaning is al-Khafiyy.
This hadeeth is a proof for those who think that seclusion is better than mixing with people. There is a difference of opinion on this issue, which has been explained many times. Those who are of the view that mixing with the people is preferable interpret this hadeeth as referring to seclusion in times of fitnah and the like.

The meaning of the hadith is that allah loves people who are rich in heart, people who remain calm in their hearts even though they are hit by big problems, in the sense of calm not panicking and not being excessively upset, not meaning ignorance and not caring about their obligations.
Likewise, someone in the face of a mess that if this self is not able to participate in overcoming problems in dealing with many people, sometimes we should retreat a little alone from a big mess that only makes us fall into neglect with other good things, because we are only burdened with what we are capable of.
Imam Nawawi explains:
‘Wealth is not the abundance of wealth, but wealth is the wealth of the soul.’
As for ‘being alone’
As for ‘being aloof’, it means that a person does not show his devotion and devotes himself to worship and preoccupies himself with matters pertaining to himself.
